Places Of Interest
LOS ALCAZARES
The nearest town of Los Alcazares is 15 minutes away with a range of shops, bars & restaurants. The promenade stretches for 8km, the local beaches are fantastic having won the Q awards for excellence & safety.
The waters of the Mar Menor are renowned for their healing properties and the temperature of the water is warm enough to swim, even in early Spring!
LO NAREJOS
The nearest beach is at Los Narejos and is just 20 minutes drive from the resort.
Even in the height of Summer, the beach is usually quiet and is my favorite beach.
Although there are limited facilities here, there are a few nice beach bars that serve reasonably priced tapas, meals and burgers.
As this is a Spanish holiday town, in the Sping and Autumn it can be virtually deserted. So watch out - it can also mean the bars are closed!
LO PAGAN
Nearby is the town of Lo Pagan, a visit is a must to take in the famous mud baths. The mud has been renowned from early times for its healing powers and is said to be a cure for many things including skin conditions, wound healing, for its anti-imflammatory effect on rheumatism, arthritis, gout and for rehabilitation after a bone fracture. The mud is applied over the body and allowed to dry in the sun before being washed off in the salt waters.
SANTIAGO DE LA RIBERA
This fishing village grew as a prime holiday destination for wealthy Murcians who built their houses along the coast. Santiago has a very lovely promenade flanked by attractive palm trees. Today Santiago is still popular with the Spanish for their vacations but also attracts tourists from all over Europe and although it has a modern air, it has still maintained its ‘fishing village’ atmosphere. It has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
Santiago de la Ribera boasts a popular water-sports centre and sailing club so with it's superb beaches, sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, cycling, a sports center, and scuba diving - it's a great place to visit .....
The ferry to the La Manga strip and the beach club goes from the pier here.
